The Ned is a beautiful 5star hotel and members’ club, situated in the financial district of London, a few steps way from bank station. The Rydell Group and Nick Jones, founder of Soho House, have created a completely new hotel experience.
The Hotel is set in the former Midland Bank building right in the city of London. It features nine restaurants, 252 bedrooms, indoor and outdoor pools, a rooftop bar, a gym and spa area and a private club`The Vault’. It has taken almost 4 years and around 200 million pound to renovate it.
Back to the 20s
We checked in on Thursday afternoon and I was immediately overwhelmed. The minute we entered the hotel, I felt moved back to the 20s. A time when traveling was the most glamorous thing to do. I totally love it’s neoclassical style. Art Deco with high ceilings, emerald green pillars, marble floors and fluffy velvet chairs. A jazz band was performing live as we entered the hotel and the people were all drinking and enjoying themselves.
Even though The Ned gives you the impression of staying at an high-end grand hotel, it is the perfect place to calm down and relax. Come as you are is the motto. You see people wearing expensive tailored suits or dresses, as well as super layedback guys wearing slipper, shorts and t-shirts. It’s not about dress codes, it’s about mixing and connecting all sorts of people. The ground floor therefore is open to hotel guests as well as public. The restaurants are all spread across the ground floor. You can visit a modern Asian- Pacific inspired restaurant, an American- style piano bar, a British afternoon tea and dining spot, a venetian brasserie and many many more. I enjoyed some gorgeous fish and chips at Millie’s , the British inspired restaurant.
Hello Cowshed Lovers
The thing I loved most, was our beautiful hotel room. We went for a medium room and were perfectly situated on the 7th floor. It was absolutely beautiful. The huge heritage king-size bed was beyond comfortable. I love the Art Deco touches, the way the velvet chairs mix with the glass chandelier and cute cocktail cabinet. I have never seen a better equipped minibar. The variety of drinks was unbelievable. Better than the drinks you get at any proper bar in Düsseldorf. The high standard bathroom offered everything you needed, including a range of full-size Cowshed Products ( oh I love Cowshed) for you to use throughout your stay.
I can definitely recommend The Ned and I’m quite sure that this hasn’t been my last stay.
